Come sono collegati insonnia, apnee notturne e incidenti stradali?

L’insonnia, a volte associata a disturbi del sonno come la sindrome da apnea notturna, può addirittura moltiplicare fino a tre volte il rischio di incidenti stradali.

Chi riposa male presenta una maggiore prevalenza di malattie cardiovascolari, diabete, depressione e disturbi respiratori.

Lo ha rivelato uno studio, pubblicato su Plos One, ideato e coordinato dal neurologo Sergio Garbarino del Dipartimento di Neuroscienze dell’Università di Genova in collaborazione con il Dipartimento di Scienze della Salute dello stesso ateneo e del docente di Medicina del Lavoro Nicola Magnavita dell’Istituto di Salute Pubblica dell’Università Cattolica Sacro Cuore di Roma.

Lo studio fa parte del “Progetto CNH Iveco Industrial Check-Stop”, un’azione internazionale per la sicurezza stradale, sostenuta dall’Autorità Ue per la sicurezza stradale e dal ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti (MIT).

Il sondaggio, condotto su 949 autotrasportatori, è il più ampio mai realizzato su una singola categoria lavorativa.
