Salutismo: ecco come si pongono gli italiani

Una ricerca commissionata dal California Prune Board, ha effettuato un’indagine sulla percezione degli italiani in merito al proprio grado di salutismo. Solo un intervistato su quattro si dichiara “molto” salutista, contro il 75% che si ritiene solo “abbastanza” salutista. Sono soprattutto i giovani tra i 25 e i 34 anni (30%) a definirsi “molto” salutisti o coloro che seguono un regime alimentare particolare (44%), per necessità o altre motivazioni, come la dieta vegetariana o vegana, quella gluten free o del gruppo sanguigno.

Le motivazioni dichiarate per essere salutisti sono diverse: non manca la volontà di godere di un maggiore benessere generale (73%), così come quella di seguire determinate abitudini alimentari (39%).Non sorprende nemmeno di trovare chi lo fa per ragioni di linea: ben il 44% di intervistati desidera esserlo per perdere peso o mantenere quello attuale. Tra gli incentivi al salutismo ci sono anche necessità sportive (17%) o motivazioni mediche come intolleranze e allergie (8%). Sono pochi quelli che danno motivazioni di circostanza: “perché è di tendenza o perché lo fanno anche i miei amici”.Per essere salutisti e per avere consigli su un’alimentazione sana è importante informarsi e rimanere costantemente aggiornati. Gli italiani intervistati ricercano consigli soprattutto rivolgendosi al medico di famiglia (36%) e al dietista/nutrizionista (26%) o al dietologo (17%). E sono soprattutto coloro che si definiscono “molto” salutisti a preferire questi professionisti, considerandoli una fonte autorevole. Ma c’è anche chi dichiara di volere fare di testa propria (18%).

Tra i canali di informazione preferiti, si posiziona il web con siti e portali dedicati alla salute e blog specializzati. Anche la televisione gioca un ruolo importante, in particolar modo con i programmi dedicati alla salute. Per diventare salutisti però non basta informarsi ma bisogna anche adottare determinati comportamenti. Tra quelli maggiormente seguiti per raggiungere questo scopo troviamo il bere almeno due litri di acqua al giorno (58%), il limitare l’utilizzo di sale (56%), il limitare il consumo di salumi (51%), di carne rossa (49%) e di latte e derivati (31%), così come il seguire un’alimentazione basata sul controllo degli zuccheri (51%) e dei grassi (50%). Il 94% degli intervistati dichiara di mangiare tutti i giorni frutta , che sia fresca, secca o disidratata,e verdura (57%).
